Public Holidays and Days Off in Slovakia in 2027

Barikáda presents Slovakia’s working calendar for 2027.

Public Holiday Days Off in Slovakia in 2027:

1 January – Day of the Establishment of the Slovak Republic
6 January – Three Kings’ Day (Epiphany)
26 March – Good Friday
29 March – Easter Monday, the second day of Easter
1 May – Labour Day
8 May – Day of the Liberation from Fascism
5 July – Feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius
29 August – Day of the Slovak National Uprising
15 September – Feast of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows
1 November – All Saints’ Day
24 December – Christmas Eve
25–26 December – Christmas Day and the Second Day of Christmas

Important note. In 2025, the Slovak authorities changed the list of public holidays that are days off work as part of the third consolidation package.

The first major change concerned 8 May (Day of Liberation from Fascism) and 15 September (Feast of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows). These will be working days in 2026, but from 2027 both of the “cancelled” holidays are due to fully return to the calendar.

However, the final decision on restoring their status as non-working public holidays is expected to be made only towards the end of 2026. Therefore, it is important to note that our calendar marks these dates as days off, but this decision could still be changed. In the case of 8 May, however, this will be largely a formal matter, as the date falls on a Saturday in 2027.

During the first half of 2027, residents of Slovakia will have only one long weekend — around the Easter holidays, which will fall at the end of March.
