Four Suspects Arrested in Nitra Attack on Four Indian Nationals

Police have arrested four minors suspected of attacking four Indian nationals in Nitra.

As part of an operation codenamed Predsudok (Prejudice), law enforcement officers also conducted searches at three locations. Police said they would not provide any further information about the investigation at this stage.

The attack took place in the early hours of 1 August on Wilson Embankment. A group of masked individuals attacked the four Indian nationals.

The most seriously injured was 35-year-old Ansar, a student at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and an English teacher. He suffered fractures to his cheekbone and jaw, as well as an eye injury that required emergency surgery in Bratislava.

This was at least the second similar incident at the same location within two weeks. Previously, two Ukrainian teenagers were attacked there. Local human rights organizations say that the activity of radical groups in the city appears to be increasing, while the growing number of similar incidents is causing serious concern.
