Barikáda has published the official school holiday schedule for Slovak schools for the 2026/27 academic year.
The new school year will begin on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The holiday calendar is as follows:
- Autumn holidays: Thursday and Friday, October 29–30, 2026. As All Saints’ Day (November 1) falls on a Sunday, classes will resume on Monday, November 2.
- Christmas holidays: Wednesday, December 23, 2026 – Thursday, January 7, 2027. Students will return to school on Friday, January 8.
- Mid-year holiday: Monday, February 1, 2027 (one day only).
Spring holidays are scheduled by region:
- Banská Bystrica, Trenčín, and Žilina Regions: February 15–19, 2027
- Košice and Prešov Regions: February 22–26, 2027
- Bratislava, Nitra, and Trnava Regions: March 1–5, 2027
The Easter holidays will run from March 25 to March 30, 2027, with classes resuming on Wednesday, March 31.
The summer holidays will last from July 1 to August 31, 2027.
The 2027/28 academic year will begin on Wednesday, September 1, 2027.
